Trivia Information – How did it get it’s Name?

This park has two dedications one being Lloyd” Duke” Watkins whom was an long time citizen of Needles and dedicated his work for the youth through the Recreation Department. In appreciation of more than 40 years of civic interest 1965-1967 the park was named in honor of “Duke”. He spent his career barbering in Needles.

This park is located on Flip Mendez Parkway whom was the a long time resident and employee for the City for 40-years. Flip saw to it that “his” parks were taken care of.
